Inspiration- Patrick Morgan
Yep, just like so many lovers of drawing I really dig Patrick Morgans work, whether people or still life or rooms, they have a lovely fresh quality.
In sharp contrast to my views on what makes proper art when I was a student, and how I would have felt about Patricks work (oil painting is the highest, anything else isn't worth it) I now admit I prefer his more drawing based work to his oil paintings. Maybe the drawings show more directly the personality of the creator?

Lapin
On this blog, in addition to my sketches I will also post other stuff which has inspired/ influenced/ interests me.
First...
A drawing by one of my absolute favourite illustrators Lapin. I love the wobbly flow and continuity of the line, and limited colour.

Art Dept Observation Sketch 7
This time it's a little bit different, after ballsing up the sketch I started I then applied some brown paper, wallpaper & gouache and started again.
All these "Art Dept" sketches are in a handmade A5 landscape format sketchbook, made from reclaimed pages of old discarded sketch books.
